
NC State stands ninth after day one of Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. Lauren Doughtie shot a three-over-par 75 to lead the NC State women’s golf team after Friday’s first round of the 54-hole Landfall Tradition hosted by UNC Wilmington at the par-72 6,115-yard layout at the Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall.
The Wolfpack are in ninth place among 12 teams after firing a combined team score of 317 (+29). Michigan leads the field with a score of 300, while Virginia is one stroke back at 301.
Doughtie, a sophomore from Suffolk, Va., sits in 10th place, just three shots behind Virginia’s Jennie Arseneault, Michigan’s Brianna Broderick and Ohio State’s Dana Jae. The trio carded an even-par 72. Megan Padua from Penn State stands one shot back at 73.
Nancy Mountcastle is tied for 28th after firing a seven-over 79, while Kristin Vincent shot 81, Stephanie Derrey shot 82 and Jessica Vincent carded an 87.
Second round action begins Saturday at 8:17 a.m.
