Since today is an NCAA-mandated meeting day for the football team, I decided to do something a little different with the diary entry. I know, this isn't exactly football related, but you might get some free food out of it!
In the last few weeks before summer officially ended for our department, I took a couple of trips across the state of North Carolina. One weekend, I went to the beach, travelling through several counties on my way to Emerald Isle. The next weekend, I went to visit my family up in the Western North Carolina mountains.
On both of those trips, I was struck with how many times I saw evidence of Wolfpack fans on interstates, country roads, on their houses ... everywhere! I loved seeing how many different ways our fans choose to show their pride in NC State.
So ... I thought it would be a good idea to let you share some of the best examples you have of how people fly their colors. It might be a room that you've dedicated to all your NC State gear. It might be a mailbox that you've seen decorated (I even saw where somebody had painted a block "S" on the side of an old beat-up tobacco barn.) It might even be the outfit that you've gotten together to wear to the first game (hoping those ESPN cameras will spot you and make you a star!).
Email me (annabelle_vaughan@ncsu.edu) a photo of how you or your friends show your pride and we'll post as many as we can on the gopack.com website. Also, every week, a "highly-qualified" panel of judges will pick the best one and we'll send that person a $20 gift certificate to Damon's. You only have to send your photo once. We'll put it back in competition each week after the previous week's winner is chosen.
