LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Shaina Ervin pitched a complete game two-hitter for her ninth win of the season in a 5-1 win over Bowling Green in the opener of the Eller Media Stadium Softball Classic. The tournament is hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev., and NC State used a five-run third inning to improve to 23-10 on the season, while the Falcons fell to 1-10. Lee Hasper went 1-2 with a two-run single to pace the offense, and Shaina and Miranda Ervin each hit an RBI single in the win.

Shaina Ervin walked four and struck out one batter in the two-hit ball game, and the lone run was unearned. The lone BGSU run came in the fourth inning on a RBI suicide squeeze bunt. She won her ninth game of the season, after posting a 10-13 record in her freshman season last year.

After two innings and a trip through the Wolfpack order, BGSU pitcher Lindsay Heimrich (0-4) had a no-hitter going. NC State ruined the Falcons hopes with five runs on five singles in the bottom of the third inning. In all, NC State sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning with Hasper putting the first two runs on the board with a two-run single to right field. Hasper stole second to put runners on second and third, Jen Chamberlin reached on an error to load the bases.

Shaina Ervin singled to center to drive in a run and keep the bases loaded for Shanna Smith. Smith was hit in the helmet by a pitch for a RBI to keep the bases loaded for a 4-0 Wolfpack lead. Miranda Ervin would finish the scoring to cap the five-run inning with a RBI center to left field.
