Goodman Advances To Finals Of Southern Scuffle

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Redshirt-freshman Ryan Goodman has lost just three matches in the last three-plus years, all of them this year to opponents ranked No. 5 or No. 6 in the nation. Goodman's third loss of the season came Friday night to sixth-ranked Jerry Rinaldi of Cornall in the championship round of the Southern Scuffle at the Greensboro Coliseum's Special Events Center.
Goodman, who won twice on Thursday and twice on Friday afternoon to advance to the finals, led Rinaldi in the third period, but eventually wound up falling 8-7 on a tiebreaker. Goodman now is 14-3 on the season and is ranked 16th by The Wrestling Mall.
In other action Friday involving NC State wrestlers at the Southern Scuffle, Jainor Palma finished seventh in the heavyweight division, and Joe Caramanica missed placing by one bout at 149 pounds.
