Nov. 28, 2005
One of the new members of this week's ESPN/USA Today Basketball Poll is NC State. The Wolfpack, which improved its record to 5-0 with a 61-48 victory over Notre Dame in Indianapolis over the weekend, makes its first first appearance in the Top 25 since being ranked 22nd in the final poll at the end of last season. NC State is also ranked 24th in the new A.P. Poll.
"We appreciate anybody who would consider us favorably," said Pack head coach Herb Sendek. "I think it's a good thing to have high expectations for your basketball program; we want to be well thought of. But I think we all recognize at the end of the day, what the polls say on November 28th in the whole scheme of things is relatively unimportant. It's early. Those rankings and numbers are going to change almost hourly it would seem between now and when it would matter."
When it faces off against Iowa Wednesday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, NC State will be going up against another team ranked in this week's poll. The 4-1 Hawkeyes come in at No. 15 this week.
Airtime on the Wolfpack Sports Network Wednesday will be 9:00 p.m.
