Derrey Even Par In First Round

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Stephanie Derrey shot even par in the first round of the Lady Tar Heel Invitational Friday morning at a soggy Finley Golf Course to lead the NC State women's golf team. A sophomore from Paris, France, Derrey is tied for seventh place and has the Wolfpack tied for sixth out of a talented field of 18 teams.
Senior Lorraine Ballerano shot three over in the first round and is tied for 14th place, while freshman Lauren Doughtie is six over and tied for 34th. Junior Nancy Mountcastle carded an eight over first round score and Jessica Vincent is also competing for the Pack. Senior Molly Birmingham is playing as an individual and fired a nine over in the first round.
Duke leads after 18 holes with a six over score and the Blue Devils' Anna Grzebian is tied with Leah Wigger from Virginia for first place at two under. The Lady Tar Heel Invitational continues with a second round Saturday and concludes Sunday with a final round of 18 holes. Complete results and live scoring are available at www.golfstat.com.
