Wolfpack Wrestling Takes Two of Three At NC State Duals

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State won its final six individual matches of the afternoon to record a 27-12 cone-from-behind victory over Gardner-Webb and win two of three matches at the NC State Duals, held Saturday at Reynolds Coliseum.
North Dakota State heavyweight Tim Kraemer recorded a takedown with 23 seconds remaining to record a 3-2 decision over Duke's Andrew Herbert and lift the Bison to an 18-12 victory over the Blue Devils. The victory extended North Dakota State's dual-match winning streak to 23 matches. The Bison, who have not lost since February 2003, defeated Appalachian State 34-3 in the first round and then won at the wire on last-minute points by Kraemer in the heavyweight bout to defeat NC State 19-13.
The Wolfpack downed Anderson College 34-3 in the opening round before losing to North Dakota State and bouncing back to defeat Gardner-Webb. Duke split its two bouts in the duals, defeating Campbell 47-0 in the first round before falling to North Dakota State in the late match. In other bouts, Appalachian State defeated Campbell 40-3, Gardner-Webb downed Anderson 33-12, and Anderson whipped Campbell 34-11.
North Dakota State's Nick Magee picked up his 50th career victory with a pin of Appalachian State's Terrell Williams in the opening round, the 52nd pin of the season for the Bison.
NC State's Garrett Cummings and Kody Hamrah both won all three of their bouts. Cummings, a redshirt-sophomore 125-pounder from Bloomsburg, Pa., opened up with a major decision of Anderson's Brad Spine, followed that with a 7-4 decision over North Dakota State's Mike Meger, and closed with an 11-6 decision over Gardner-Webb's Jon Neal. Hamrah, a true freshman 157-pounder from Middlesex, N.J., beat Anderson's Herb Porter 12-9 in the opener, then won a 19-7 major decision over North Dakota State's Collin Kelly in the most entertaining single bout of the afternoon. Hamrah then wrapped up a stellar afternoon with a pin at the 5:36 mark over Gardner-Webb's Adam Glaser.
