Wolfpack's Devine Invited to USA Baseball Trials

Durham, North Carolina - USA Baseball announced today a list of nine collegiate players that have recently been invited to participate in the 2004 USA Baseball National Team Trials - to be held June 20-26 in the Durham, North Carolina. Among the nine players is NC State sophomore righthander Joey Devine (Junction City, KS), who has collected 10 saves in 20 appearances so far this season for the Wolfpack.
Devine is the second local player that has been invited to participate. UNC's Daniel Bard was among the first group of invitees announced last month. They will both be among up to 36 players at the Trials, of which 28 have now been determined. The official 20-man team roster will be selected following the trials, and announced on June 27. The 2004 USA Baseball National Team will open play on Wednesday evening, June 23 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park at 7:00 pm vs Canada. Team USA will also play an additional seven games in Durham, along with several more domestic exhibition games prior to representing the United States at 2004 II FISU World University Baseball Championships in Chinese Taipei, July 23-August 1.
