NC State's Michael Rogers, a sophomore right hander from Hamilton, New Jersey, has been selected as the ACC Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. Rogers improved his record to 5-1 on Friday night with eight stellar shutout innings in the Wolfpack's 11-0 victory at Florida State. In that outing, Rogers allowed just three hits, while striking out nine Seminoles hitters and walking just one. FSU, the ACC's second best offensive team, had only three base runners reach scoring position all night. It marked the first time in 263 games that Florida State had been shutout.
In eight starts this season, Rogers, who owns a 2.60 earned run average, has yielded just 16 earned runs, while striking out 57 and walking only nine men in 55.1 innings pitched. He anchors a staff that leads the ACC in pitching with a team ERA of 3.03.
Now 20-10 overall and 4-5 in the ACC, the Pack will visit Old Dominion on Wednesday (no radio broadcast) before opening a three-game ACC series at Maryland on Friday night. Every game of that series can be heard on WKNC 88.1 FM and via the Internet on Gopack.com.
