Caterpillar is proud to partner with NC State to present a program that honors the achievements of our student-athletes in the classrooms as well as on the playing fields. Each month two Wolfpack Scholar athletes will be selected as a member of the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team. To be named to the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.00 GPA for at least one semester and be a full-time student at NC State.
During the Fall 2003 semester 236 Wolfpack Student Athletes achieved a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher and 118 student-athletes were Dean's List honorees.
This month Caterpillar and NC State are proud to honor tennis' Allison Barry and wrestling's Matthew Spengler.
Allison Barry |
Allison Barry is a freshman on the NC State Women's Tennis team. The native of Raleigh, North Carolina made the short trip to State from Wakefield High School. Allison has made a lot of aces, on the court and in the classroom. She has compiled a most impressive 3.96 Total Grade Point Average. The Communications major was also on the NC State Dean's List during the 2003 fall semester.
Matthew Spengler |
Matthew Spengler made the journey from Northampton, Pennsylvania to Raleigh to compete for the NC State Wrestling team. A four year letterman in high school, Matthew competes in the 133 pound division. He's also fared well in the classroom with a 3.25 Total Grade Point Average in his major of Mathematics Education.
Congratulations to both Allison and Matthew and all the other Caterpillar Scholar Athletes.
