
Wolfpack Improves 14 Strokes In Second Round

BATON ROUGE, La. - The NC State women's golf team shaved 14 strokes off its first round score to move into 11th place out of 17 teams after two rounds of the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic at the par 72, 6,265-yard University Golf Club in Baton Rouge, La., Saturday. The Wolfpack shot a 26-over par 314 on the second 18 holes.
Briana Vega led NC State with a 76 in the second round, tying her for 30th place with a 13-over par total. Colby Cobb fired a second round 77, a six stroke improvement from the first round, to place her in a tie for 40th place with a 16-over par total. Molly Birmingham is also tied for 40th after recording a 79 in the second round.
Ashlee Dean shot an 82 in round two, one stroke better than her Friday score and puts her in a tie for 62nd place with a 21-over total. Margaux Hennessey carded a 90 Saturday and is 29-over.
The tournament includes three top-25 teams and eight squads ranked in the top 50, including No. 46 NC State.
Tulane has taken over first place after two rounds with a 28-over par score and Ashley Prange from North Carolina is even par after two days to lead the field. The LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic concludes Sunday with a final round of 18 holes. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
