No. 45 Florida State Narrowly Defeats Wolfpack, 4-3

Tallahassee, Fla. - Conor Taylor defeated a top-20 opponent at No. 1 singles for the second time in just over a week, this time defeating the defending ACC Player of the Year with a straight set victory over Florida State's Mat Cloer. The Wolfpack fell 4-3 to the No. 45 Florida State Seminoles on Monday, narrowly losing to one of the top teams in the country.
Taylor won in convincing fashion over Cloer, winning 3 and 4 at No. 1 singles. Taylor defeated Izak van der Merwe of Old Dominon, the no. 13 player in the country, on March 8.
The Wolfpack battled in doubles, and was on serve at 5-5 in No. 1 before falling by a break. Iriate and Taylor were up 6-3 at number three before falling, as NC State kept competing.
Val Banada won at No. 3, defeating Chris Westerhof 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 and Andre Iriarte also won a three setter, picking up the win 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Chip Webb.
The Wolfpack will play ACC rival North Carolina in Chapel Hill on March 24 in its next match.
