Chapel Hill, N.C. - The NC State men's swimming team lost their final regular season ACC match to North Carolina on Friday, February 6 167-74. Cullen Jones was superb again in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, winning both. His 50 yard freestyle time was 20.47, almost a second faster than teammate Kevin Devine as NC State took three of the top-4 spots in the event. Jones would also win the 100 yard free with a time of 45.92.
NC State would place only five other players in the top-3 of the remaining events, getting strong swimming from Seth Hoffman in the 100 Yard free (9:43.06, 3rd), Rob Yeager (2:04.70, 2nd) and Brian Pursley (2:06.73, 3rd) in the 200 yard breaststroke.
Vitor Assuncao had another strong showing on the 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards, taking first in the 1-meter with a score of 331.35 and second in the 3-meter with a 320.47 mark.
The men's swimming and diving team returns to the pool on Sunday, Feb. 8 against Tennessee in the Casey Natatorium on the NC State campus at noon. Admission is free.
