Swimming and Diving Completes Day Two at ACC Championship

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - The NC State swimming and diving team is tied for seventh after the second day of the ACC Championships in Charlottesville, Va. Three women's events were held on Thursday, as the finals for the 500 yard freestyle, 200 yard IM and the 200 yard freestyle relay took place, with two NC State swimmers finishing 21st in both individual events, and a seventh place finish in the relay.
Jess Koenig posted a 2:06.24 in the 200 IM, her fastest time of the year topping the 2:06.49 she swam against East Carolina on 10/28/03.
In the 500 yard free, freshman Kerry Whitson posted a time of 5:01.42, besting her previous best set against Maryland in October.
NC State would finish 1:35.91 in the 200 yard free relay, shaving almost two seconds off of the pervious season best mark in the event.
The Championship will resume tomorrow, with preliminaries beginning at 11:00 a.m. and finals commencing at 7:00 p.m.
