FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The NC State women's golf team is 11-over-par and tied for seventh place after the first round of the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship at the par 72, 6,254-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club Friday. Molly Birmingham fired a one-under-par score to lead the Wolfpack. She is tied for fourth and only one stroke behind the leaders.
Colby Cobb shot even par on the first 18 holes and is tied for 11th place. Ashlee Dean is five-over, Lorraine Ballerano is seven over and Nancy Mountcastle is 13-over.
NC State is 10 strokes behind first place UCLA. The Bruins lead the the 18-team field. There is a three-way tie for first place individually, with Alison Walshe from Tulane, Casandra Kirkland from Arizona and Perry Swanson from Texas all carding two-under first round scores.
