NC State Wrestling To Host Annual Duals Saturday At Reynolds

RALEIGH, N.C. - College wrestling returns to Reynolds Coliseum on Saturday when NC State hosts five visiting team in the annual NC State Duals. The Wolfpack will be joined by fourth-ranked Illinois, Virginia Tech, Drexel, UNC Greensboro and Campbell in the three-round competition, which gets underway at 1 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
Three mats will be set up on the floor at Reynolds. At 1 o'clock, NC State will take on Illinois, Campbell will tangle with Drexel, and Virginia Tech will wrestle UNC Greensboro. There will be two matches at 3 o'clock - NC State vs. Virginia Tech, and Illinois vs. Drexel. At 5 p.m., NC State will wrestle Drexel, UNCG will take on Illinois, and Virginia Tech will battle Campbell.
Illinois brings six ranked wrestlers into the duals, led by Alex Tirapelle, ranked No. 1 at 157 pounds, and Mark Jayne, who is No. 4 at 133. NC State has three ranked wrestlers, but 20th-ranked 165-pounder Dustin Kawa will not participate Saturday while nursing a slight knee injury. He is expected to be back for Wednesday's match at rival North Carolina. Seniors Scott Garren, ranked No. 13 at 157, and Jake Giamoni, No. 18 at 149, will lead the Pack, which is 1-0 in dual matches this season.
Virginia Tech's David Hoffman is No. 13 at 133 pounds, and Drexel's Chris Jones is No. 13 at 197.
