NC State Wrestling To Hold Fall Clinic November 8

RALEIGH, N.C. - Spend a day of wrestling at NC State. The Wolfpack will host its annual Fall Wrestling Camp on Saturday, November 8, 2003, at Carmichael Gymnasium on the NC State campus. Participants will receive wrestling instruction from the legendary Dan Gable, an opportunity to observe competitive collegiate wrestling and receive a pair of adidas wrestling shoes. Wolfpack football coach Chuck Amato will be on hand as a special guest. The clinic is designed for middle school, high school and club member wrestlers and coaches.
Dan Gable is the most celebrated and respected wrestler in the world. As a collegiate wrestler, Gable compiled an unbelievable record of 182-1 and was a three-time All-American and two-time national champion. He served as the University of Iowa's wrestling coach for 21 years and compiled a career record of 355-21-2 for a winning percentage of .932. His teams won 21 Big Ten titles and nine consecutive NCAA national championships. On his way to winning the gold medal at the 1972 Olympics, he did not surrender a point to any of his opponents. Gable coached many USA teams in international freestyle including being head coach of three Olympic teams (1980, 1984, and 2000).
Registration for the clinic will begin at 10 a.m., and the clinic will run from noon until 2 p.m. The clinic, part of a day of wrestling at Carmichael, will be followed by the annual Red-White wrestling meet at 2 p.m., with another clinic with Dan Gable to follow from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Entry fee is $40, and all participants in the clinic will receive a free pair of adidas Pretereo wrestling shoes, plus admission to the clinic and the Red-White meet. The fee for coaches will be $20.
