For months now NC State fans have been touting quarterback Philip Rivers as a Heisman Trophy candidate. And after three games, the senior signal caller has made it clear that he's one of the top players in all of college football. So come December will Philip Rivers have his picture taken with college football's top prize? We'll have to wait and see on that one. NC State fans, however, won't have to wait that long to get close to college football's Holy Grail.
This Saturday, the Heisman Tour, presented by Suzuki and ESPN The Magazine, comes to NC State. Prior to the Wolfpack's game with Texas Tech, fans will not only get to see the Heisman Trophy. They'll also be able to have their photos taken with this coveted prize. It all takes place in the FanZone, located just outside the RBC Center and across from Carter-Finley Stadium.
"This is a great opportunity for our fans to see the Heisman Trophy up close. It's one of the things that make college football so special," remarked NC State Associate Athletic Director Charlie Cobb.
The Heisman Tour, which last week was at Ohio State prior to the Wolfpack's classic battle with the Buckeyes, also includes special exhibits from sponsors 989 Sports, US Army, HBO, Gap, Weber Gas Grills, and Baby Ruth.
Not only can fans see the Heisman Trophy and have their special moment with the prize captured on film. The Heisman Tour also also includes interactive games and plenty of free prizes courtesy of the tour's sponsors.
"The Heisman Tour has been a hit everywhere it's been. We're especially excited to be coming to NC State this weekend. We know Wolfpack fans will enjoy this special college football experience," said Lisa Kingery of Merv Griffin Productions, promoter of the Heisman Tour.
A reminder to Wolfpack Fans: The FanZone is open from 9:30 AM to 11:45 AM Saturday morning, prior to the Texas Tech-NC State game.
