NC State University will hold the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Curtis and Jackie Dail Football Practice Complex on Wednesday, September 17 at 12:15 p.m. The facility, which has been in use by the Wolfpack football squad since last spring, is located adjacent to Carter-Finley Stadium.
Last December, the Dails, longtime Raleigh-area residents, contribued one of the largest gifts ever to NC State University. The couple committed $5.2 million to the Wolfpack Club for an array of athletic capital projects and student-athlete scholarships.
"This is the largest announced gift in the history of NC State Athletics," said Bobby Purcell, executive director of the NC State Student Aid Association (Wolfpack Club). "With this commitment, we are able to make significant strides towards the completion of the Goal Line Drive Campaign, make much needed improvements to other men's and women's athletic venues, and add to our scholarship endowment program. The entire Wolfpack family thanks Curtis and Jackie for their commitment to NC State."
In return for their commitment, the Dails will have the following facilities named in their honor: The Dail Basketball Practice Facility at the Weisiger-Brown Athletics Center; the Dail Football Practice Complex; the Dail Outdoor Tennis Stadium at the new JW Eisenhour Tennis Center; the Dail Baseball Clubhouse Office Wing; and the Dail Softball Stadium. In addition, the funds will be used to endow the Men's Basketball 6th Man scholarship and to endow a softball scholarship.
Joining the Dails at the ribbon-cutting ceremonites will be Chancellor Marye Anne Fox, Chair of the NC State Board of Trustrees Peaches Gunter Blank, Athletics Director Lee Fowler, Wolfpack Club Executive Director Bobby Purcell, Wolfpack Club President Richard Vaughn, Head Football Coach Chuck Amato, Chairman of the Goalline Drive Campaign Derick Close and Larry Nixon, Chair of the Construction Oversight Committee.
"NC State University has always been close to our hearts," explained Mr. Dail. "Having grown up not too far from here and living in the local communityfor some 40 years, we have seen first hand the impact this fine University has made on the young men and women of our state. It has been a center for education, research and athletics for the entire state, and brought a lot of enjoyment to Jackie and me, as well as many many others. Jackie and I are just thankful that we are in position to be able to help in some way."
