ACC OFFENSIVE BACK of the Week
NC State quarterback Philip Rivers (Athens, Ala.) was 26-for-30 passing for 320 yards with three touchdown strikes and no interceptions in only two-and-a-half quarters of action in NC State's 59-20 win over Western Carolina. The 6-5, 236-pound senior's .867 completion percentage was a career high. Rivers stands fourth in the ACC record books and second in NC State records with 9,313 career passing yards. He has also moved into third place in the conference records for passes completed (765), touchdown passes (64) and passes attempted (1,257). Keeping his streak alive of passing for at least 100 yards in every game, Rivers moved into a tie for third in the ACC records with his 10th career game of 300-plus passing yards. Rivers' pass efficiency mark of 209.3 is the fourth best in the nation and his 26 pass completions tied for seventh.
ACC SPECIALIST of the Week
NC State wide receiver/punt returner Tramain Hall (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) returned all three punts for NC State for 73 yards, including a 67-yard return for a touchdown. The 5-11, 183-pound sophomore also racked up 97 receiving yards in the game, all but 10 of those coming in the first half. One of his team-leading seven receptions was for a touchdown. Hall ranks fourth in the nation this week with a 24.0 yards-per-game punt return average.
