Rivers Selected as Preseason Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Candidate

Louisville, Ky. - NC State's Philip Rivers is one of 26 candidates vying for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award, presented annually to the nation's top senior collegiate quarterback by the Frank Camp Chapter of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation.
Rivers has already been annouced as a candidate for the Davey O'Brien and Hossman Awards. The four-year starter is on track to shatter every passing record in NC State history and could become the all-time ACC passing leader before his career is over as well. Rivers ranks second in NC State history, sixth in ACC history and third among returning players nationally in career passing yardage with 8,993 yards.
The nominees were selected by a committee of football experts from across the United States. The committee will choose five finalists on October 22, with the winner being announced on December 12 in Louisville. Additional candidates could be added at a later date based upon their performance.
