With the opening of the new Wendell H. Murphy Football Operations Center, NC State will add a new pregame tradition at home football games this season, the Walk of Champions.
Approximately two hours prior to kickoff (3:45 this Saturday), the team buses will drop the players and coaches off at Gate B on Trinity Road. The team will be greeted by the NC State marching band, dance team, cheerleaders and fans. The band, cheerleaders and dance team will form two lines for the team to walk through in the Murphy Center parking lot, in front of the wolf statue and down to the east side, lower level entrance to the locker room. The band will play the Wolfpack fight song during the walk and the dance team will distribute shakers to fans prior to the team arriving.
This location and route will allow the NC State band, cheerleaders and dance team to make their way through the parking lots, getting fans to join in the walk prior to the team being dropped off. This will also allow fans parked in the fairgrounds parking lots to feel included as they make their way across the street.
Amato Names Temporary Captains
NC State head coach Chuck Amato has selected four senior players to serve as temporary captains for the 2004 football season. Quarterback Philip Rivers and wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery will represent the Wolfpack offense, linebacker Roger Pollard will represent the defense and long snapper Danny Young will represent the special teams.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, the team will vote on permanent captains.
