Early Rankings Feature Wolfpack

Early rankings take note of Evtimov's return from a knee injury.

Just how early is early? Well, consider the fact that a few internet sites and publications have already churned out preseason college basketball polls for next year. In fact, it was less than 24 hours after Syracuse downed Kansas for the national title on Monday night that Fox Sports and ESPN's Dick Vitale produced rankings for the 2003-04 season. Just call them the "pre-preseason" rankings for next year. NC State, which will return four of five starters plus Ilian Evtimov, is receiving recognition on both sites. According to Fox, the Wolfpack "should push Duke for the conference title." Of course, we'll have to wait 11 months to find out if they're right.
