Wolfpack fans are invited to attend the dedication ceremony for the new Wendell H. Murphy Football Center at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 25. Chancellor Marye Anne Fox, Director of Athletics Lee Fowler and Wolfpack Club Director Bobby Purcell will take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will be held in the plaza in front of the center, which is located in the south endzone of Carter-Finley Stadium.
Also, in appreciation of his leadership and longtime commitment to NC State, a bust of Murphy will be placed in the Hall of Champions area of the Center, along with a plaque honoring the entire Murphy family.
Following the ceremony, those in attendance will be invited to tour the Finley Hall of Champions. The Finley Hall, which serves as the main entrance to the Football Center, showcases NC State's rich football tradition in photographs, trophies, uniforms and memorabilia. Murphy has been a lifelong supporter of both athletic and academic initiatives at NC State. In 1999, he was awarded the prestigious Watauga Medal, the school's highest award given for outstanding and distinguished service. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University.
The Murphy Football Center is a 103,000 square foot state-of-the-art football operations center.
