Caterpillar is proud to partner with NC State to present a program that honors the achievements of our student-athletes in the classrooms as well as on the playing fields. Each month two Wolfpack Scholar athletes will be selected as a member of the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team. To be named to the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.00 GPA for at least one semester and be a full-time student at NC State.
During the Fall 2002 semester 210 Wolfpack Student Athletes achieved a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher and 107 student-athletes were Dean's List honorees.
This month Caterpillar and NC State are proud to honor volleyball team member Melanie Rowe and track & field team member Randy Cass.
Melanie Rowe |
Though just a sophomore, Melanie Rowe has been a valuable performer for the NC State Volleyball team since arriving on campus from her native Ramsey, Minn. She immediately earned playing time and hasn't looked back since. In the classroom, the Biological Sciences major sports an impressive 3.333 Total Grade Point Average. Melanie's also been a two-time member of both the NC State Dean's List and Caterpillar Scholar Athlete Program. She's also been named to the ACC Honor Roll.
Randy Cass |
Randy Cass has built up quite a resume while at NC State. In the classroom, the senior from Union Grove, North Carolina has compiled a 3.33 Total Grade Point Average. What's more, he's been on the ACC Honor Roll for three years, Caterpillar Scholar Athlete Program for eight semesters and NC State Dean's List four times. In his sport of Track and Field, the Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences major finished tenth place in the ACC 2002 Outdoor Championships in the shot put and fourteen in the discus.
Congratulations to both Melanie and Randy and all the other Caterpillar Scholar Athletes.
