Cowling Named to All-ACC Swimming Squad

Greensboro, N.C. - NC State freshman Steven Cowling earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference accolades as announced by the conference office in Greensboro on Tuesday. The Meare, Somerset, England native finished second in the 100 backstroke and was a member of the Wolfpack's second-place 200 Medley Relay squad.
Cowling's time of 48.64 during the preliminary swims in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday morning was the fastest time recorded during the championships and season. He entered the finals competition as the number one seed in the race, and finished second Friday evening with a time of 49.06, just four-one hundredths of a second behind the winner. He is a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Championships. Cowling also swam the lead leg of the Wolfpack's second-place 200 Medley Relay, and touched the wall with a time of 22.40 after 50 yards.
