Browns Summit, N.C. - NC State women's golf will be in action this weekend at the Bryan National Collegiate, one of the nation's premier tournaments. The 54-hole event will be contested once again at the Bryan Park Champions Course, which measures 6,064 yards and is a par 72.
Top-ranked Duke looks to defend the title they won a year ago. The 18-team field also includes (golfweek.com rankings): Auburn (6), Vanderbilt (8), Tennessee (10), Tulsa (15), South Carolina (16), Wake Forest (17), Georgia (19), Florida State (21), North Carolina (23), Purdue (26), Furman (29), NC State (36), Mississippi State (38), Memphis (54), Louisville (63), LSU (69), and UNC Greensboro (79). Individually, there will be nine players present who currently rank in the top 25 of the nation.
The Wolfpack will field an experienced line up, which includes: Colby Cobb, Briana Vega, Courtney Pomeranz, Sarah Bonner, and Erica Wein. Last time out, the group finished tied for 11th at the Lady Gator in Gainesville, Florida.
"We are very excited about returning to this event," says coach Page Marsh, whose young team finished eighth in the field of 17 last season. "We are in a field with a number of nationally-ranked teams, and playing against this type of competition will prepare us for Regionals, and hopefully Nationals."
Practice rounds will begin on Thursday at 9 am and last until 2 p.m. First round action will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, and teams will be teeing off on both holes #1 and #10. Second round play will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, and final round action will be played Sunday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. as well. Fans are welcomed to attend and admission to the event is free.
