Vern Sterry Named ACC co-Pitcher of the Week

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State righthander Vern Sterry has been voted co-ACC Pitcher of the Week for the week that ended on March 16. Sterry, who went 2-0 during the week, led the Wolfpack to a 5-0 week by pitching the Pack to a 4-3 win over The Citadel on March 11, and an 8-2 decision over Princeton on March 16.

Sterry, a junior from Rowland Heights, Calif., worked 7-1/3 innings vs. The Citadel, striking out 10 batters and walking two. He pitched a complete-game seven-hitter against Princeton, extending NC State's winning streak to 13 games. Sterry struck out a career-high 14 batters, the fourth time in six starts that he has reached double figures in strikeouts. Sterry is 5-0 this season with a 2.38 ERA in six appearances. He has allowed 30 hits, walked 10 and struck out a team-high 57.
