Caterpillar is proud to partner with NC State to present a program that honors the achievements of our student-athletes in the classrooms as well as on the playing fields. Each month two Wolfpack Scholar athletes will be selected as a member of the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team. To be named to the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.00 GPA for at least one semester and be a full-time student at NC State.
During the Fall 2002 semester 210 Wolfpack Student Athletes achieved a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher and 107 student-athletes were Dean's List honorees.
This month Caterpillar and NC State are proud to honor tennis team member Myrna Bawono and swimmer Scott Rushfeldt.
Myrna Bawono |
Since coming to NC State from her native Indonesia, Myrna Bawono has excelled both in the classroom and on the tennis court. The senior Business Management major played in all five of the Wolfpack's tournaments in the fall of 2002. Last spring, Mryna posted a 9-13 record playing out of the number two position. In the classroom she has posted a 3.116 Total Grade Point Average, and has been named a Caterpillar Scholar Athlete and member of the ACC Honor Roll.
Scott Rushfeldt |
In the pool, swimmer Scott Rushfeldt specializes in the butterfly. In the classroom, the junior from West Palm Beach, Florida takes to Computer Engineering. Scott had five top ten finishes for the Wolfpack in the 200-butterfly event during the 2001-2002 season. On the academic side he's managed to boast a 3.225 Total Grade Point Average. His other accomplishments include being named a Caterpillar Scholar Athlete and earning a spot on the ACC's Honor Roll.
Congratulations to both Myrna and Scott and all the other Caterpillar Scholar Athletes.
