The NC State wrestling team fell to 21st ranked Iowa State Sunday afternoon by the score of 30-16.
Featuring five wrestlers ranked in the top 20 of their individual weight classes, the Cyclones jumped out to an early lead. Heavyweight Scott Coleman decisioned Leroy Harris 6-0 and 125-pounder Jesse Sundell won by forfeit due to NC State's George Cintron being out after surgery to his knee. ISU would increase its lead with back-to-back pins by Zach Roberson and Aaron Holker. Roberson pinned Daniel Pacitti in a time of 4:05 at 133, while Holker managed to pin 141-pounder Ryan McCallum in 1:28.
The Wolfpack would come back with three wins of its own. In the 149-pound weight class, junior Jake Giamoni defeated Nate Gallick, 3-2, and Scott Garren decisioned Nathan Meyer, 13-8 at 157 pounds. The big win of the day was at 165, where NC State's Dustin Kawa grabbed a major decision win over No. 11 Nick Passolano, 13-5.
Daniel Humphries would go on to add six more points to the Wolfpack's score when he pinned Woodley Milord in a time of 3:02 at 197, but a prior victory by ISU's Austen Palmer at 184 and another forfeit by NC State at 174 ensured the win for the Cyclones.
The Wolfpack moves to 7-10 on the season and will now face conference foe Duke on Thursday at Cameron Indoor for the last regular season match before competing in the ACC Tournament.
