Feb. 10, 2003
For the 6th consecutive year, the ACTION committee at NC State will host a big screen viewing party for all alumni, staff, fans and students.
Join fellow Wolfpack fans in Reynolds Coliseum on Tuesday, February 25 for the NC State - UNC game on a giant 16 x 20 big screen! The game will tip at 9, but all fans are encouraged to arrive early to ensure a good seat. This is the sixth installment of a new campus tradition. Crowds have been well over 1500 people each year. All fans are encouraged to join the party, and community groups are welcome.
Admission to the event is free, as the ACTION Committee (Advocating Choices Through Increased Options Now) has secured corporate and university sponsors. The ACTION Committee has planned the event as a way to encourage students and fans to make good choices about alcohol, tobacco, drugs and sex.
Attendees will be treated to a "game like atmosphere" featuring numerous door prizes, local celebrities, the NC State pep band, mascots, cheerleaders and dance team. Our pre-game speaker will be Chris Corchiani, the legendary NC State point guard who became the first player in NCAA history to reach 1000 assists. Students will register to compete in a hot shots contest for $500, and the grand door prize available to all attendees will be 2 round trip airline tickets courtesy of Wolfpack Sports Marketing. According to Matt Smith, associate director of development for the College of Management, the event "continues to grow in popularity each year, and provides our fans and students a great opportunity to gather together in a positive environment."
