Before too long, they may start referring to Brian Williams in Minnesota as "Big Play Brian." Williams, a former defensive back at NC State, had a dream day on Sunday, intercepting three passes in the Vikings' 24-14 victory over the Detroit Lions. The last of Williams' picks went for a touchdown when he plucked a Joey Harrington pass out of the air and raced 42 yards for a touchdown with just over two minutes remaining in the game.
Williams, who has five interceptions this season, became the first Viking to record the hat trick since linebacker Jack Del Rio picked off three passes back in 1993.
And while Brian Williams had a career day for Minnesota, former Pack star Torry Holt continued his torrid season with the St Louis Rams. Holt, NC State's all-time leading receiver, made nine grabs for 145 yards in the Rams' 30-27 overtime triumph over Arizona. Holt currently leads in the NFL in receptions (84), receiving yards (1,285) and touchdowns (10).
