RALEIGH--Cameron Bennerman, a reserve guard at N.C. State, will miss six to eight weeks of the coming season after breaking a bone in his right hand in practice, the school announced Saturday.
Bennerman, a 6-4 sophomore, played in 28 games last season, averaging 2.3 points as the Wolfpack's second player off the bench.
Bennerman suffered the injury Friday as he jammed his shooting hand into another player's back as both were going up for a rebound, said Charlie Rozanski, the director of sports medicine.
Herb Sendek, the Wolfpack's head coach, was unavailable for comment.
The Wolfpack will open the season on Nov. 21 against UNC Asheville at the RBC Center.
