Tech Defeats Pack Women's Swimming in Atlanta

ATLANTA - The NC State women's swimming and diving team fell on the road to host Georgia Tech, 152-91 on Saturday, Oct. 25, in the newly renovated Georgia Tech Aquatics Center. The Pack tallied three wins on the day, two coming from freshman freestyler Rebecca Perry. Perry took wins in the 100 and 200 Free events. Sophomore Lola Woodworth won her first event of the season with a fast swim in the 200 Breast.
Perry touched the wall with a time of 23.95 in the 50 Free, and followed with a winning time of 51.75 in the 100 Free for her second and third wins of the season. Woodworth's time of 2:24.02 led a one-two-three Wolfpack sweep in the 200 Breast. Freshman Halle Kiehlmier finished second, and senior co-captain Priscilla Humberstone took third.
The Wolfpack finished second in seven other events on the day. The 400 Medley Relay squad of Perry, Woodworth, Jessica Koenig and Liz Herron finished second in 3:56.70. Abby Lewis was second in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:27.36, and Kerry Whitson scored second in the 200 Free in 1:53.62.
Koenig, a sophomore, finished second in both the 200 IM and 200 Back, and freshman Amy Baskwell led three Wolfpack scorers in the 500 Free with a time of 5:05.63. Sophomore diver Molly Culberson finished second on both springboards with scores of 240.75 and 268.42 on the 1- and 3-Meter respectively. Junior Christy Welch finished third on both boards, and sophomore Ashley Lamberton took fifth.
The Wolfpack will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 28 as host of the East Carolina Pirates in the Willis Casey Aquatics Center on the campus of NC State. The meet time has been changed to 4:30 p.m.
