The NC State women's golf team will head south for the weekend as it prepares to participate in the ACC/SEC Golf Challenge in Destin, Fla. Play will begin on Friday, Oct. 24 with teams starting at 7:30 a.m., teeing off of hole No. 1. The event will be held on The Raven Course, which is a par 71, measuring 5,937-yards.
The Wolfpack will travel with a team of five, and also play one individual in the tournament. Lorraine Ballerano, Ashlee Dean, Briana Vega, Molly Birmingham and Colby Cobb will compete as a team. Ballerano was the team's top finisher at the Franklin Street Partners Trust. This will be the first event Cobb has participated in with the varsity squad this fall.
Senior Courtney Pomeranz will travel with the team and participate as an individual.
Last season, eventual national champion Auburn captured the team title, and aided the SEC in capturing bragging rights. Auburn's Diana Ramage took the individual medalist honors.
The ACC/SEC Challenge is the final fall tournament scheduled for the women's golf team. It will resume play in February as host of the NC State Desert Classic.
