RALEIGH, N.C. - Four Wolfpackers notched wins on Saturday, but it was not enough to overcome ACC rival Maryland in swimming and diving. The Terps claimed a 138-97 win over the Wolfpack. Freshmen swimmers Kerry Whitson and Rebecca Perry made impressive debuts with wins, while veterans Laura Cutler and Molly Culberson added victories in the 200 Fly and diving.
The quartet of Perry, Lola Woodworth, Jessica Koenig and Jenny Bland teamed up to place second in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:54.65. Two swimmers scored in the 1000 Free, including newcomer Amy Baskwell. Baskwell finished second with a time of 10:28.48. Claire Nicholls finished fourth.

Bland and Liz Herron finished four and five in the 100 free, and Koenig, Mallory Estill and Emily Clabaugh took third, fourth and fifth in the 200 Back.
Whitson, Abby Lewis and A. Baskwell scored in the 500 Free, and Priscilla Humberstone, Woodworth and Erin Trau added points in the 200 Breast. Freestylers Whitson, Herron, Kendall Smith and Perry finished second in the 400 Relay.
Culberson, who is coming off of a stellar freshman season, finished first on the 1- and 3-Meter boards with scores of 271.275 and 304.95, respectively. Her 3-Meter score qualifies her for NCAA Zone competition in the spring.
The women will return to competition when they travel to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech on Oct. 15 at noon. The meet will be the first held in the newly renovated GT Aquatic Center.
