Wolfpack Picked To Finish 2nd In ACC Football Race

Pinehurst, N.C.-Media members covering the annual ACC Football Kickoff in Pinehurst have picked NC State to finish 2nd in the 2002 ACC football race. With 82 first place votes and 770 points overall, Florida State was selected as the team to beat for the title. With 642 points overall, the Wolfpack was the only other team to receive first place consideration, garnering four votes for the top spot.
Defending league champ Maryland picked up 571 points to finish third in the voting, followed by Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Virginia and Duke.
NC State will open its season against New Mexico at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh on August 24.
