Wolfpack Women Ink Eight For Swimming/Diving

Raleigh, N.C.--NC State head coach Brooks Teal's women's swimming/diving program announced its eight women's signees for the fall of 2002 Monday. It includes two student-athletes from North Carolina, two from Florida, one from Georgia, one from California, one from Washington and one from Arizona.
Jenny Bland, a native of Raleigh, N.C., is a strong breaststroker and individual medley specialist frrom the Raleigh Swim Association. Jenny is expected to contribute immediately in both events, with definite potential to score at the ACC level as a freshman. She is an honors student from Leesville Road High School and will pursue a biomedical engineering degree. She has top times of 1:06.1 in the 100 breast, 2:22.3 in the 200 breast and 2:09.0 in the 200 IM.
Shannon Brewer, a Hickory, N.C. native is a sprinter, specializing in the 50 and 100 freestyle. A member of the Hickory YMCA Seahorses, this NCHSAA 3A champion will help multiply the Wolfpack's sprint depth. A graduate from Hickory High School, Brewer looks to major in Parks, Recreation and Tourism. She has top times of 24.6 in the 50 free and 52.8 in the 100 free.
Christina Britt, an Orlando, Fla. native, is a powerful butterfly and backstroke specialist. A Highlander Aquatics member, Britt looks to add much needed depth in both sprint and longer events and provides a serious threat for scoring at the conference level her first year. She looks to pursue a Textile Design & Management Degree from the School of Textiles. She has top times of 58.1 in the 100 fly, 2:05.1 in the 200 fly, 59.0 in the 100 back and 2:08.3 in the 200 back.
Priscilla Humberstone, a native of Roswell, Ga., is a junior transfer from the University of South Carolina. Humberstone, a member of Swim Atlanta, brings experience from SEC competition to the team, as well as a strong breaststroke ability, having earned multiple top points at her former school. A Centennial High School graduate and SEC scholar athlete, Priscilla plans to major in Primary Education. Humberstone has top times of 1:04.8 in the 100 breast and 2:17.8 in the 200 breast.
Michelle Jennings, a Folsom, Ca. native, looks to add to the Wolfpack's strong middle-distance freestyle and breaststroke contingents and threatens to score her freshman year. A member of California Capitol Aquatics, Jennings had several successful performances both in and out of the pool. Jennings will major in Pre-Dentistry. Jennings has top times of 1:53.1 in the 200 free, 4:55.1 in the 500 free, 1:06.8 in the 100 breast and 2:26.3 in the 200 breast.
Lola Woodworth is a native of Bellevue, Wa. and a member of the Bellevue Club Swim Team. Woodworth is an Olympic Trial Qualifier in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke and is expected to have an immediate impact on the conference and should contend for some of the top spots in competition. She is graduating from Newport High School and will major in First Year College upon her arrival at NC State. Woodworth has top times of 1:03.7 in the 100 breast and 2:18.6 in the 200 breast.
Shelbey Kosova (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Ashley Lamberton (Phoenix, Az.) round out the group and will bolster NC State's diving contingent. Kosova, a platform diver on the Fort Lauderdale Dive Team under Coach Tim O'Brien, is expected to continue the tradition of successful and strong divers for the program. A graduate of Boca Raton High School, Kosova has been accepted to the College of Textiles.
Lamberton, who will come to the Wolfpack from North Canyon High School, is a versatile springboard diver who will help develop the Wolfpack's dual meet diving as well as continue on in true NC State fashion to the NCAA regionals. She will major in First Year College upon her arrival on campus.
