Men's Soccer Announces Newcomers

Raleigh, N.C. - Seven student-athletes have signed letters of intent to play men's soccer at NC State in the fall of 2002, head coach George Tarantini announced. The signing class includes a wide variety of fast and talented athletes, that are sure to be a big part of NC State this upcoming season.
"We are very excited and see this as a great opportunity to be an exciting team that goes forward and scores lots of goals," said Tarantini.
Dan Campbell was a two time regional All-American and two-time all-state selection at Westmont High School in Johnstown, Pa. Campbell also brings with him five years of experience on the PA West ODP squad, and has been a member of six PA West State Champions with his club team.
Chris Gannon comes to NC State after playing the two previous seasons at Nassau Community College. A native of Hauppauge, N.Y., Gannon scored 32 goals and added 36 assists in his two years at Nassau CC, and was named first-team All-American last year and second-team All-American as a freshman.
Aaron King has been with the Colorado ODP club and the Region IV teams. While in Denver, King helped his school win a state championships in 2000, and was named all-state in 2001.
Federico Peria, a fast playmaker in the midfield, comes to NC State from Argentina. Peria has played for many top teams in while growing up in Argentina.
Thomas Queeley is the second recruit from Colorado, playing at Smoky Hill High School in Denver. Queeley has been a member of six high school and club state championships teams, and was a member of the U-23 ODP Regional Championship team in 2001 and also has experience on the Region IV squad. As a senior, Queeley was an all-state selection in leading his team to a state championship.
Bryant Salter is a product of Coral Reef High School in Miami, Fla. As a senior Salter scored 26 goals and added five assists and was named all-state and county MVP. As a junior, Salter finished with 32 goals and 15 assists. Salter also led his squad to the 2002 Puma Classic, and collected MVP honors for the tournament scoring six goals.
Laye Traore attended Upper Dublin High School in Ambler, Pa. Traore has been on many all-star teams and plays for Buckingham United during the club season.
The Wolfpack will begin its season with the Adidas Wolfpack Classic. NC State will host Georgia Southern August 30 at 1:30 p.m., and then Holy Cross on September 1 at 1:00 p.m.
