Ballenger Named Assistant Men's Soccer Coach

Raleigh, N.C. - NC State University and men's soccer Head Coach George Tarantini announced the hiring of Jeremy Ballenger today. Ballenger, who played for the Wolfpack from 1996-99, returns to the Wolfpack as a full-time assistant coach.
As an assistant coach, Ballenger's responsibilities will include scheduling games, recruiting, directing the NC State Soccer School for Boys each summer, in addition to on-field coaching and community relations.
While playing at NC State, Ballenger saw action in 60 games and started 42, mainly on defense. For his career, Ballenger notched four goals and three assists. He served as team captain his junior and senior seasons, and was named to the 1998 All-ACC Tournament team. A native of Golden, Colorado, Ballenger earned his bachelor's degree in public relations in 1999.
The past two seasons, Ballenger has been a member of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the A-League. During his rookie season he saw action in seven contests for a total of 366 minutes. Last summer he was slowed by a foot injury for most of the season and was limited to six games during the regular season, but was a big part in the Open Cup Qualifiers, playing in four games. During the past two summers, Ballenger served as a coach at the Riverhounds summer soccer camps.
