Rivers, Peterson, and Jackson Star In Scrimmage

The NC State football team held an intrasquad scrimmage this afternoon at Carter-Finley Stadium. The first team offense went against the first team defense most of the day, and vice versa for the second and third teams.
Quarterback Philip Rivers complete 11-of-17 passes for 265 yards with three touchdowns. Rivers hit seven different receivers. Jay Davis, who redshirted as a freshman last season, was 11-of-19 for 92 yards.
Bryan Peterson caught three passes for 63 yards, including touchdown passes of 53 and six yards from Rivers. Andy Bertrand, who missed all of the 2001 season with an injury, pulled in four passes for 83 yards.
Cotra Jackson had a strong day running the ball, carrying 12 times for 73 yards, including breaking many tackles on a 32-yard touchdown run. Josh Brown rushed 12 times for 28 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, defensive end George Anderson recorded five tackles, including two sacks. Fellow defensive end Terrance Chapman also added two sacks, while safety Terrence Holt had five tackles.
The Wolfpack will host the annual Red-White Spring Game next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Carter-Finley.
