Annual NC State Scholar-Athlete Banquet sponsored by Caterpillar

Wednesday, April 10, was a special night for the NC State Athletic Family. The top Wolfpack student-athletes gathered at the McKimmon Center for the annual NC State Scholar-Athlete Banquet. The event, sponsored by Caterpillar, honored 228 student-athletes who compiled a 3.0 or better grade point average during the fall semester. It included 109 student-athletes who were Dean's List honorees.

Highlights of the evening included remarks from NC State Chancellor Marye Anne Fox, Athletic Director Lee Fowler, and Bob Briggs from Caterpillar. The featured speaker was former NC State Swimmer and Olympic Gold Medalist David Fox.The NC State Academic Program for Student Athletes is under the direction of Philip Moses. Moses presented numerous awards during the evening.
"The ASPSA is extremely proud of the academic efforts put forth by our student athletes and greatly appreciate the opportunity afforded by Caterpillar to showcase their accomplishments," said Phil Moses,NC State Academic Program for Student Athletes, "I can't say enough about the leadership skills exhibited by our students everyday. NC State fans, supporters and alums should be very excited about all of the accomplishments. They are committed to being the best in everything they attempt."
The highlight was the announcement of the Top Ten Scholar Athletes at NC State.
The top male scholar athlete recognized was swimmer Tim Haley. Though not in the Top Ten, Haley compiled a 3.975 GPA in Multidisciplinary Studies.

"The awards banquet was a great event", said Mike Haase, Caterpillar Marketing Support manager. "It was truly impressive to be with this group of dedicated scholar athletes and to see the level of support that NC State University gives these students. We are honored to be a part of this program."
NC State is proud of its rich athletic tradition. It is equally proud of the outstanding accomplishments of its student-athletes in the classroom.
