Women's Golf Second At ACC Championships

Clemmons, NC- NC State trails Duke by 11-strokes for first place in the first round of the ACC Women's Golf Championships at the Salem Glen C.C. Wolfpack sophomore Mailn Claesson is tied for fourth after an opening 72. She stands two strokes out of first place behind V. Nirapathpongporn of Duke. The second round tees off tomorrow morning at 8:30am.
Colby Cobb placed in a tie for eighth with a 73 and team stroke leader Sarah Bonner was one stroke back with a 74 and placed tied for 10th. Leslie Stubblefield finished the scoring for the Pack in the first round and stands in a tie for 16th with a 76. NC State was one of three teams (Duke and Wake Forest) to place at least four golfers in the top 20 individuals. Duke placed five.
Erica Wein shot a +9 (81) to capture a tie for 26th.
NC State women's golf is driving for their first ACC Championship and must unseed Duke, who placed three golfers at the top of the leaderboard after the first round. The Wolfpack has enjoyed the most successful season on the links having won three team tournament titles this year.
