Women's Swimming Competitive in First Day at ACC Championships

NC State's women's swimming team received solid individual finishes in the one meter diving and in the consolation finals in the 200 yard medley in the ACC Championships in College Park, Maryland.
Junior Erin Bailey finished fifth in the one meter diving with a final round score of 274.60 to gain 14 points. Senior Erin Lambie finished not far behind in seventh place with a 247.90 score to garner 12 points.
Senior Mandy Horn finished first in the 500 yard freestyle consolation finals, and 13th overall with a time of 4:55.04 to nab four points.
In the 200 yard medley, junior Anna Maria Gazda finished 12th and gained five points with a time of 2:06.59, while freshman Laura Cutler ended up 14th with a time of 2:07.53 to gain three points.
Freshman Erika Newell had a solid showing by finishing 12th and gaining five points with a 23.66 time in the Women's 50 yard freestyle.
In the team events, the Wolfpack finished sixth in the 200 yard freestyle relay and seventh in the 400 yard medley relay. The Wolfpack women grabbed 24 points for their finish in the 400 yard medley relay.
Action will continue tomorrow with the preliminaries starting at 11 a.m. and the finals beginning at 7 p.m. in the Campus Recreation Center Natatorium.
