Wolfpack Swimming/Diving Drops Pair To Heels

The NC State men's and women's swimming/diving squads dropped a conference meet on the road Friday evening to arch-rival North Carolina. The women, now 4-3 overall (3-2 ACC) were defeated 179-112, while the men (3-4 overall, 2-3 ACC) dropped a 193.5-94.5 decision to the Tar Heels.
Erin Bailey led the way for the Wolfpack women, taking both the 1 and 3-meter diving events with a score of 286.35 in the 1-meter and 290.48 on the 3-meter board. Erin Lambie took second in the 1-meter with a score of 251.40.
The Wolfpack women notched a sweep of the 200 IM on the evening, with Annamaria Gazda taking the victory in a time of 2:08.13. She was followed by Caroline Curran (2:09.51), Erika Newell (2:09.97) and Laura Cutler (2:12.62).
The Wolfpack's final victory came in the 200 free relay with the team of Lindsay Holman, Curran, Mandy Horn and Abigail Lewis taking the win in 1:40.44.
Kevin Barkley notched the first win for the Wolfpack men, taking the 200 backstroke in 1:51.77.
Jared Bench then secured the victory in the 3-meter diving competition by edging UNC's Eric Poitras by eight hundredths of a point (296.63-296.55).
Cristian Rojas and Rob Yeager finished 1-2 for the Wolfpack in the 200 IM, in times of 1:55.78 and 1:57.17, respectively.
Dan Kesler, Brian Wood, Rojas and Peter Pessagno combined to win the 400 free relay in the final event of the day. with a finishing mark of 1:29.75.
The Wolfpack's next home meet will be on Saturday against Clemson at 1:00 p.m.
