NC State Swimmers Rank In Nation's Top 50 Times

The youth of the NC State swimming & diving team has really stepped up thus far this season, and it has the times to prove it. In an unofficial ranking by collegeswimming.com, 16 Wolfpack times are listed in the top 50.
"Obviously, whenever you can get national recognition it is a positive," says NC State head coach Brooks Teal. "I think this is a good reward for their hard work that not only these individuals are doing, but the entire team as well."
Part of the success of this year's team is accredited to the exceptional talent of the youth. Teal and assistants Chad Onken and Alexis Keto have done an amazing job recruiting some fine young talent. Of the 16 individuals on the list, only one senior is named. While the Wolfpack suffered losses from last year's squad due to attrition, the prominence of youth means good things for the future.
"Seeing the class next to each athlete's name is what makes the coaching staff really proud," says Teal. "A lot of freshmen and sophomores are doing really well. The future of the Wolfpack swimming & diving program is looking great.
"Having times this high in the rankings in November is great," he continues, "but there is still work to be done and we can't get complacent if we intend to have those rankings in February and March during the championship season."
