Rifle Team Defeats Citadel In First Home Match

Raleigh, NC - Senior team captain Joe Upton once again turned in a solid showing for the NC State Rifle team, posting a total score of 1,496 at the Wake County Range in Holly Springs. He fired a score of 1,122 in smallbore and an air rifle score of 374. As a team, NC State defeated the Citadel 5,802 to 5,578. The Citadel edged the Wolfpack in overall team air rifle scoring with a 1,488 to State's 1,474. NC State won by a wider margin in the smallbore team scores, by a 4,328 to 4,090 advantage.
Three of the top-four finishers were NC State shooters, lead by Upton in first, Trey Ragsdale (1,458 total: 370 air, 1,088 smallbore), and sophomore Laura Ferrell placed fourth with a 1,435 (362 air, 1,073 smallbore).
Other scores for the Wolfpack included: Ryan Dorety 1,423 (374 air, 1,049 smallbore); Steinkopff 1,432 (366 air, 1,066 smallbore); John Maroglio 1,405 (360 air, 1,045 smallbore).
Rifle will wrap up its fall schedule this Saturday, November 16, in Birmingham, AL for the SEARC Match 2.
