NC State's T.A. McLendon and Terrence Holt have been honored for their performances in the unbeaten Wolfpack's 38-6 victory at Clemson last Thursday night. McLendon, a freshman running back from Albemarle, was named the ACC's Offensive Back of the Week, while Holt won the same award for defensive backs.
McLendon, who had previously been named the ACC Rookie of the Week on three separate occasions, rushed for a career-high 178 yards and two touchdowns in his first visit to Death Valley last Thursday. The 6-2, 220-pound rookie leads the league in touchdowns with 14. On the season, McLendon has rushed for 813 yards, while also averaging 5.1 yards per carry.
Holt led a Wolfpack defense that did not yield a single point to the Clemson offense (the Tigers only score came on a kickoff return). The senior free safety from Gibsonville, N.C. made nine tackles, caused a fumble, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass against the Tigers. He also picked up a blocked punt and raced 39 yards for the first score of the game in the opening period.
