Allen (Raleigh): Congrats on the win over the Heels!!!! Do you expect to see Clemson bliz you more than other teams have this year? Good luck and GO PACK!!!
Philip Rivers: We may. I have watched
them on film and I.m sure they will mix it up a lot. We have seen just
about everything that a team can do. We have seen crazy blitzes, teams
dropping back, etc. We are prepared for anything.
Dalton(Raliegh): if you guys end up 13-0 do you think you will have a shot at any big bowls.
Philip Rivers: I think that will come as
we win. The key for us is to dream about the big picture but not get
caught up in it. We just take it one game at a time and let things fall
where they may.
Keith (Greenwood, SC): Philip, Congrats on the undefeated season! Clemson is going to be very tough. How will the team prepare for the game in Death Valley with a short week to prepare?
Philip Rivers: As for the short week,
you only get one of these if any each year, so we are very excited about
getting to play in the national spotlight. We have to prepare quicker
and watch film earlier but it shouldn.t be a problem. We will be at the
same point as if we had the long week.
Brian (Santa Cruz, CA): What was the team's mind set after the win over Duke? Is there any sense of vulnerability, or are you still feeling very confident? On a lighter note, who do you think is the one person who keeps voting for you on the ESPN.com Heisman voter poll?
Philip Rivers: We knew going in that
they were better than everyone thinks. If it did anything, it let us
know that every game will be a battle.
(Laughing) And I hvae no idea who is voting for me ..
Matt (Raleigh,NC): You guys run a lot of trick plays in your offense. Do you have any favorites? My personal favorite is when Peterson throws on the reverse back to you, like in the game at Chapel Hill. Any chance we'll see that one again?
Philip Rivers: I'm not sure I have a
favorite .. It.s always fun to me getting to catch a pass. I guess I
just like the one.s that work!
T Bassil Greensboro: Do you plan on running the ball yourself more often :) ?
Philip Rivers: I never have been a big
runner but there may be some times where I can pull it down. But my
first option is to throw it ..
Charlie(Raleigh): Philip, I have never in my life seen an NC STATE football team in the top 10. It is a pleasure to go watch you and the team every week. My question is about this years recievers. YOu look more comfortable with them every game, so much more than last year's corp. What is the difference this year?
Philip Rivers: I feel way more
comfortable. Our young guys have come a long way. Everyone is on the
same page now. We have good communication between us and although we
have done a good job, we have yet to put our best game together.
Raleigh: Philip, I am a student at NC State and I have been hearing rumors that you might leave after this year if you are drafted into the NFL. Could you please clear up this rumor? You have been very vital to the success of our team and I would hate to see you leave a year early. Jason
Philip Rivers: Certainly that is the
ultimate personal goal to get to the NFL but I want to be a senior on
this team and get into that new facility. I still have some work to do
to be where I want to be.
Brandon(Raliegh): what kind of game are you expecting to have to conform to against Clemson? Are they more of a running defense or passing defense
Philip Rivers: I think we are going in
with our same attack in mixing the run and pass. We have had success
with both. We will just have to see how the flow of the game goes.
Scott (Durham): Philip, congrats on the great start. Obviously, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the team's focus on the next game instead of the possibility of going into the FSU game 12-0. Do you feel that pressure is affecting the team yet, and what are you guys doing to overcome it? Go Pack.
Philip Rivers: It's been fine. We are a
very mature team. We are just focused on one game at a time. Individual
awards, where we are ranked, sure I look at those things but we are
doing a good job of focusing on the game at hand.
Philip Rivers: Thanks for the questions.
Be sure and watch the game Thursday night on ESPN .. take care everyone!
