Raleigh, N.C.-NC State forward Levi Watkins underwent successful surgery on Friday to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The 6-7, 200 pound freshman from Rockville, Maryland will now begin a rehabilitation period that is expected to last from 6-9 months.
Watkins was injured in the second half of the Wolfpack's home game against Maryland on December 30th. Prior that contest, he had begun to play a more significant role off the NC State bench, averaging 17 minutes in the three games leading up to the contest against the Terrapins. He also got his first and only start against Charleston Southern on December 19.
Watkins was averaging 3.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game prior to suffering the injury.
